When I take the pencil to draw, it does not always come as I want. It is hard when you have an idea, and you don't know how to express it, when you are ready to create and you look at the blank paper with no idea on how to start. There are two options when this happens. You can try to start the drawing or you can leave the blank paper hoping that one day you will be able to draw that idea. Art is a skill that takes practice but even the most skilled artist struggles sometimes to create beautiful art pieces. It is always relaxing for me to see how the lines take shape and form that idea that was uncertain in my mind, how something that at a beginning was unclear and didn't have much sense took shape in something different from what I imagined but still beautiful.
Sometimes the only thing that you need is to start and let it flow. Like in drawing, the lines at the beginning may seem confusing but by starting and continuing at the end they will take shape. The start point may seem difficult but sometimes you just have to give it that steep and let it flow. This summer, I had many opportunities to get out of my comfort zone. I'm an introverted person, and I always find it difficult to talk with people. This summer, I tried my best to talk to new people and try to get to know them better. At the beginning it was difficult and I was scared, but with time and practice I started to make friends and to be more confident in talking with people. There were times when I didn't find the words or the things turned out differently from the way that I was thinking, but I keep trying and doing better the next time. Starting something that may seem difficult can make a big difference. When I was trying to get out of my comfort zone, I was very scared but just by trying, by taking that first step, I was able to improve and gain more confidence for the next time. Talking with other people and improving in art is something that takes action. By starting and making mistakes, you learn how to correct them and how to do better next time. By taking that time to practice and focusing on the aspects that you want to improve, you eventually grow in those skills. I still need practice in many things but I will do better as I practice and when I look back to those lines that didn't have shape at the beginning or the drawings that I didn't like I will realize that those start points helped me to get to the point of where I am now.
